Welcome to Pixie Bakes Cornwall! My baking journey began in the 1980s, standing on a kitchen chair beside my grandmother, eagerly learning the secrets of her cherished recipes. Together, we created everything from traditional cakes to hearty Glamorgan sausages and her signature nut roast – recipes I still treasure and use today. There was something magical about transforming my grandad's homegrown apples into warm, bubbling crumbles. Those precious moments in my grandmother's kitchen planted the seeds for what would become Pixie Bakes Cornwall.
I'm Sarah, a passionate home baker and proud mum of five wonderful children. My journey with food began right here in Cornwall, where I studied for a NVQ in food and drink service and food preparation and cooking at Cornwall College. While my path led me to later complete a BA (Hons) in Photography in 2019 (yes, with a newborn in tow!), my love for creating delicious baked goods never wavered.
When I'm not in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes, you might usually find me cycling through Cornwall's beautiful landscapes or participating in our local parkrun. These active pursuits perfectly balance my passion for baking!
I founded Pixie Bakes Cornwall in 2024, combining my love for baking with my desire to create a flexible career that works around family life. Specializing in dairy-free treats became my passion after discovering my daughter's dairy allergy and developing my own dairy intolerance. This personal journey has inspired me to perfect recipes that prove dairy-free doesn't mean taste-free! From zesty lemon drizzle cakes and rich chocolate brownies to traditional Cornish heavy cake (made vegan!), coffee and walnut delights, indulgent rocky road, and cherry bakewell blondies – each creation is crafted to be irresistible to everyone, whether they're dairy-free or not.
Every treat I make is crafted with the same care and attention I put into feeding my own family, bringing a touch of homemade magic to your special moments.
